Smile Spring Parkland College Scholarship Event

It's that time again. Spring is here and it's the time for car shows and autocross at Parkland Jr. College.

Dennis Miller will be setting up the site for fun competition and a skills challenge.

Rember that this is a scholarship event and all entry fees are $30.00.

Online registration is open at www.ccsportscarclub.org

See you there.

Already have it off and live right around the corner.. I'll help out with setup just let me know when you guys are going to. Take it, it's not done on Friday due to it being an active campus.

Registered. I would say the May Parkland course isn't one suited to my driving style or my car, but the last two years I've snagged FTDI so we're gonna go for the Trifecta. It's gonna be as tough as ever this year I imagine though.

lol, and good luck to you as well Chris! For that half second or less I can go Flat Out in 1st gear at Parkland I am free, then the rev limiter kicks in

Parkland is actually a source of some frustration for me because 1st gear is too short and 2nd is way too long so I find myself (as do a lot of others) caught in between needing a 1.5 gear. Cars with tall 1st gear or very short 2nd should be best for Parkland.

what's the average speed for parkland? From watching in the past I'm going to guess like 40mph? I have a very short first gear, and my second gear redlines at 52mph, to me it usually seems like when I'm on it I go through both gears very quickly and then 3,4,5th are very long.

Slower than 40 mph average. Top speed is around 40 for some cars. You have to remember the May Parkland event is different than the Fall Parkland so you might be watching videos not representative of the course. You are way better off than me. My 2nd gear rolls out to 67 mph. If you're car has good midrange power your 2nd gear should actually be decent for the course. I would consider a 52 mph 2nd gear to be on the very short side. Guys with V-tec or something with less than good mid-range power/torque will need to go first gear and spend some time on the limiter because 2nd gear puts them way out of the power band.

It's too bad we can't or don't use the same three lot setup for the Spring. I know it's because of the auto show we want to have a presence and probably other reasons as well but that setup is so much more involved in terms of what you can do.
