No longer rice.

I wish I could trade my trunk for that car. I have one sitting in my room at home. I'll see if I can get a g35 for it.

Have fun with the wobble at high speeds. Oh and you definitely don't need a silencer with just a catback. :D

I definetly got a warning for my exhaust because of the catback thanks to a ISP cop.

I've been in Iowa for about a week, getting married on Saturday. But on my way I got a speeding ticket and warning for it.

And I'll be getting stabalizers at some point

If you're not concerned about weight savings, then the STi wing is definitely the way to go. I love that wing and was considering doing the same (swapping trunks) but have decided that I want to go wingless instead to try and save a few pounds. Picking up a lightweight battery here this weekend to aide in that adventure.

Looks good!

<--- is jealous :P

I don't understand how you've gotten a warning with just a catback. I'm totally catless with a muffler and nobody's stopped me yet for my exhaust (knocks on wood).

What a waste of time and effort.

LOL at getting rid of the stock WRX wing to save weight, there's no way you'll save more than 2lbs if that. It's hollow plastic.

Oh yea, you can't clutch in whenever passing by a cop.:p

Nope, I can't. lol

And I looked up the law the Trooper cited me on. It states on STATE HIGHWAYS ANY AFTERMARKET MUFFLER THAT blah blah blah blah annoying blah blah blah

So when I'm on the highway I'll silence it, otherwise its out.

And the main reason I got that warning was the Trooper was part of the new Motorcycle Nazi's

And the STI wing/trunk is actually quite a bit heavier than the WRX, I Was suprised

What do you expect with that big shopping cart handle on the back

digitalsceance-I can see why you get away with having a no cat exhaust, your muffler looks more stock than his...its hard to miss a huge grape fruit shooter like he's got...along with a huge wing...hmm, hard to miss if you ask me

Maybe so, but it looks good w/o a wing. Gives it a more sedan type look and since I sport stock wheels on the street it will make it look more stock to the uneducated viewer, but to the educated it is a mod. I thought about getting the Cusco GT wing but that will draw way more attention on the street than what I'm aiming for. The wingless trunk is allowed in street prepared because it's considered part of the update/backdateing of parts. I'd really like to get an aftermarket front end but I have a complex about body kits, I try to stay away from rice and that would def be rice at solo speeds.

I need to focus on saving weight in the front which is why I'm getting the lightweight battery and I'll be draining (most of) the windshield wiper fluid before I go to Peru in two weeks to save another couple of pounds. Going on a diet myself wouldn't be a bad idea either; loosing 50 lbs in the middle of the car would prove useful. :o

I didn't think about that. Of course the trailer hitch helps too :D However, I'm only about 3" off the ground now (jack doesn't fit anymore) so that screams ricer/racer but I'm not going to drop it once I get to the courses, I have enough to do to setup the car as it is!

I would love to see some handling data with and without the wing just to quantify exactly how much it does or doesnt help performance. Hard to say with just a seat of the pants guess.

Refer to my thread about the new limited STI they released in England and Subaru dropped the wing as it handles better with out it.

Kevin when I got pulled over I didn't have the wing on it, only the low profile wing.

As far as the grape shooter, I'm thinking about getting a magnaflow muffler and having the axle back redone so it looks stock. Or if I find a cheap used axle back.

As far as the wing, I like it a little more for looks, but theres a good amount of function with it.

Thus pictures:

Yes I know its got the vane spoiler that helps out, and theres a few sutle differences between the WRX/STI bodies, but it still holds true to an extent.

You have to remember that you have an automatic, which if memory serves, the majority of the drive is to the front wheels where as the manual has the majority of the drive to the rear. Therefor you need a front splitter to balance out the downforce and aide in high speed handling.

Hmm, next purchase? :D

Not so much.

The Automatic in the Impreza has a more advanced AWD system, and the majority of the power goes to the REAR wheels, but I believe its 40/60

Actually I think it's 60/40

That's what I thought...

Auto: 60 front, 40 rear
Manual: 40 front, 60 rear
STi: manually up to 80 each way

I've been looking on nasioc but can't seem to find the thread that differenciates the two but that's what I thought...
