Anyone know where I could pick some up? I need the 4 rubber 'grommets' as my dad called it, chunks of rubber worked for me. As my g/f would describe it "the engine fell out" of her dad's car a few days ago, after looking at it for myself, the mounts had just worn out. Anyone know a good place to start looking for these parts? I should be able to gather all of the tools/knowledge to replace it (have an engine hoist and my grandpa owned a garage for nearly 20 years) now it's just a matter of finding the right parts.

get a couple tubes of caulk :p

if you want used ones, i would suggest you call coultas in danville. they are pretty cheap

I just need to fix it so he can get to/from work. Anyone know a site I could order new ones from? I wouldn't mind getting used ones, but I'd be afraid of having the same thing happen a year from now.

i am not joking on the caulk.. you can fill them with silicone.. i believe there is a vfaq on it

Not silicone...urethane. I would check Autozone/Advance/Napa etc. for cheapo replacement rubber mount.

Can you get some pictures of the mounts themselves? Is it the lower engine/trans mounts, or the upper 'dogbone' mounts?

Lower mounts for sure you can order from parts stores. I'm not sure about the upper mounts though?

I'll try to get some pictures after work tomorrow and post them...all of the mounts are completely shot, so there is no way that I can do the insert method. The urethane method may work, but it'd probably be better in the long run to replace the entire mounts.

x2

It's either that or a buick dealer for replacement pieces. I urge you to try the above before going anywhere else.

Here are two pictures of where the mounts should be. In the first one, there is a big gaping hole where the main mount should be, as well as a smaller one that seems to be just a bit of a damper on the inside of it (only attaches to the body of the car) This inner mount on the drivers side is missing, as well as both of the outer mounts. Both pictures are from behind the engine.

Dang...those aren't the motor mounts...those mounts hold the entire front suspension/drivetrain/subframe. It looks to me like the lower washer that compresses the rubber donut has rusted away. You will probablt need a new one of these, plus new rubber donuts. Junkyard might be the easiest/cheapest place to locate these parts.

I was going to say...motor mount didn't seem like quite the right term for it to me, but that's what my dad was saying so I just assumed he knew a bit about what he was talking about :lac:

My g/f's dad talked to a guy in the parts dept at Rebec and they said it would be about $250 for all 4, but since he's one of the mechanic's probation officers, they could probably drop that down to $200, lol. We may call around to a few junkyards, but this seems to be a pretty common problem among these cars, since they had one in the shop at Rebec with the exact same problem.
