I guess this forum is supposed be for showing off your car, but this particular thread is to mourn my car. Friday, I hit a road alligator at 70 mph. Luckily, nothing major was damaged. Still, I'm out $1000. I guess this has to count for my 'mod of the year'. :(

Also, thank $DEITY for packing tape, and for my dentist who was nice enough to give a roll to a man in need.

you live in florida or something??? I haven't seen any gators in this neck of the woods.I live in Germantown, but I hit the 'alligator' on I-80 in Iowa. Big sumbitch, too. The guy in front of me spun it so it laid straight across my lane. There was no way around it without going into the median, which was not something I was eager to do.
Wow man, thats rough. You going through insurance to fix it or are you just going to pay out of pocket?I'm not going through insurance. The cost to fix it is less than my deductible. It also took out my washer fluid resevoir, partially unrolled my fender in the front wheel well, popped off just about every fastener going down that side of the car, and left rubber all over my left rear rim (like shoe streaks on a bball court).

I hate driving I-80 in Iowa...
Its always the worst going West on I-80 too, going East is always so easy...err

I nailed a bigin' on I-85 just outside atlanta, crushed a fog light and left a 4" wide streak down the drivers side for almost a foot and a half...

hit one in my eclipse.. took it down the center of the car.. ripped wires out of the oil filter housing, dented the oil pan, and tore the exhaust bushings.. other than that, no real damage

My choices were:
1) pull right and slam into a Kenworth
2) stay in my lane and try to minimize the impact area
3) pull left into the grass/mud/etc.
As much as #2 sucked, neither #1 nor #3 was a better option.
