Just looking for some suggestions.
For the headunit I just bought an Eclipse AVN5510 double din.
I already have a 10" JL audio W3 sub and a 1000W TMA amplifier.
So that leaves me shopping for door speakers/components.
I have an OLD (3-4 years) Earthquake 4channel 600W max amplifier. If i can put it to use great, if not i'll just sell it for the very little amount it's worth.
For the front i'm looking to get 6.5 compenets and 6.5 coaxials for the back. I know nothing about speakers, I went to sound of peoria and listened to a few. The Kicker KS seemed to sound ok, but nothing crazy.
So reccomend me some speakers and maybe a decent 4 channel amp.
Budget- $500 give or a take a little bit.

Use the Quake if it works. Buy some Hybrids for the front and just some cheaper coax for the rear. Rear speakers are for people in the rear, plain and simple. So you will keep the gain down on the rears. You don't really want to be able to hear them from the front seat. You are looking at about $389 for the Hybrids and another $75 - $100 for some Boston or JL coax. If you get a new amp then you are going to break your $500 budget. Give me a call at Mobile if you want to discuss other options.

+100 for the hybrid audio front components.
personally, i'd skip the rears altogether.
if you would like to audition the clarus or legatia speakers, give me a hollar the next time you come to b-town. i have them both installed in our cars with no rear speakers at all if you would like to hear it that way.

i'll probably give you a call tomorrow sometime. I'm 99.9% sure the amp works as it was only used for like 3 months in my brother's old 4runner and then has just sat in the closet since. I'm assuming you sell the hybrids, so i'll have to find a day where i can come up there and grab a pair.
If rear speakers really arent that important i do have a pair of old alpine co-axials i could throw back there too.
Thanks for the advice!

the hybrid's for the front, some old kicker's i had for the back. Getting those front speakers to fit was painful! I ran out of time so right now there just being ran off headunit power, but that should change this weekend!

if you have time, take pics of how you installed the clarus set - i'm curious to see. did you seal up the holes in the doors w/ matting? dampen behind them at all on the outer door skin?

I'll take some pics when i take the doors back off to run the amp. But I pretty much sealed everything with dynomat. Toby kind of went over what I should do when i was in his shop, i think i followed his directions fairly well :). But i'm by no means a professional!
I used a 1/2" spacer plus the dynomat brought it out a little further so the speaker would fit. And I think i sealed off all the holes, i just used the leftover dynomat for that.
